If you’re a fan of cute characters, Japanese snacks, and seasonal pop-ups that feel like stepping into a mini themed world, the new Miffy pop-up at Japan Centre is definitely worth a visit. Running from 10 March to 31 May 2026, this limited-time collaboration brings the beloved bunny Miffy to life with spring-themed food, exclusive merchandise, and interactive activities inspired by the Japanese tradition of cherry blossom viewing.

Located inside the Japan Centre Flagship Store in Leicester Square and also at Ichiba Westfield London, the pop-up blends the charm of Japanese culture with the nostalgic joy of Miffy. Picture pastel pink drinks, fluffy dorayaki desserts, adorable buns stamped with Miffy’s face, and shelves filled with limited-edition merchandise you probably didn’t know you needed.

What makes the pop-up particularly special is that it’s built around the theme of Hanami, the Japanese tradition of gathering under cherry blossom trees to celebrate spring with friends, food, and good company. It’s essentially a playful invitation to have your own mini hanami picnic with Miffy.

I recently stopped by to check it out, and from the themed menu to the immersive décor, it felt like the kind of event that’s both Instagram-friendly and genuinely fun to explore.

About the Miffy Pop-Up at Japan Centre

The Miffy pop-up officially launched on Tuesday 10 March 2026 and will be running until 31 May 2026, giving fans plenty of time to visit. The experience spans two locations across London:

• The Japan Centre Flagship Store in Leicester Square
• Ichiba at Westfield London

Both spaces have been transformed with spring cherry blossom décor, creating a soft pastel setting that reflects the Hanami theme. You’ll spot Miffy illustrations, blossom motifs, themed displays, and even a dedicated Miffy photo area where visitors can snap photos surrounded by the cute decorations.

The pop-up also includes interactive elements. One of the highlights is a free stamp rally, where you can collect stamps of Miffy and her friends at four different stations across the two locations. Once you’ve gathered them all, you’ll complete the rally sheet making it a fun little adventure across the stores.

There are also special events happening throughout the pop-up period, including:

• Miffy meet and greet sessions (ticketed)
• Miffy cooking and decorating workshop (ticketed)
• Miffy colouring activity for families (non-ticketed)

What the Experience Is Like at the Miffy Pop-Up

Walking into the pop-up feels like stepping into a cheerful spring festival.

The space is decorated with soft pink cherry blossoms and Miffy artwork, immediately setting the mood for the Hanami theme. The decorations aren’t overwhelming but they add just enough charm to make the area feel immersive.

One of the first things that catches your attention is the Miffy photo area, where visitors can take pictures surrounded by themed props and décor. It’s definitely designed with social media in mind, but it also adds to the playful atmosphere.

Another fun aspect is the stamp rally. You can pick up a stamp sheet and hunt for the four stations across both locations. Each station features a different Miffy or character stamp, and collecting them all becomes a mini scavenger hunt while you explore the store.

And if you’re ordering from the set menu at the café, there’s an added bonus. Each set comes with a free Miffy placemat and an exclusive Miffy sticker set, which makes the experience feel even more special.

What the Food Is Like at the Miffy Pop-Up

Of course, the food is a big part of the attraction and thankfully, it delivers both on presentation and flavour.

The menu centres around Miffy-themed Japanese snacks and drinks, many of which feature cute stamped designs or spring flavours inspired by cherry blossoms.

During my visit, we ordered the picnic combo which includes a Miffy hirata bun, Miffy takoyaki (6 pieces) and a Miffy sakura soda (£14.95)

The hirata buns were soft, pillowy steamed buns with savoury fillings. The karaage chicken version was probably my favourite (compared to the BBQ pork), crispy Japanese fried chicken tucked inside the fluffy bun with sauce and fresh toppings. It was comforting, flavourful, and surprisingly filling for something that looks so cute.

The takoyaki was my favourite! It was crunchy on the outside and so soft in the inside with the octopus filling.

The Sakura soda was light, refreshing, and slightly floral. It had that subtle cherry blossom flavour that’s delicate (not overly sweet too!) rather than overpowering, making it a perfect drink for the spring theme.

For dessert, we tried items from the café set menu:

• Miffy Sakura Matcha Latte
• Miffy Dorayaki Strawberry
• Miffy Dorayaki Matcha

The matcha latte had a gentle sakura twist, giving the earthy matcha flavour. It was creamy and comforting.

The dorayaki desserts were a standout. Dorayaki are Japanese pancakes typically filled with sweet fillings, and these were light, fluffy, and soft. The strawberry version was fruity, while the matcha version had a rich green tea flavour balanced by sweetness.

They felt like the perfect sweet treat after the savoury buns.

Another major highlight of the event is the merchandise selection.

The pop-up sells a mix of Japan-exclusive Miffy products and local merchandise, making it a great place for collectors or fans.

Some of the items available include soft toys, keychains, mugs, stationery, accessories and more.

There are also four exclusive Japan Centre x Miffy tote bags and I decided to get the classic Miffy Natural Tote Bag (£12.50) (it’s so adorable!)

They’re simple but cute designs and surprisingly sturdy, perfect for everyday use or grocery shopping.

If you’re a fan of character goods, it’s very easy to get carried away browsing the shelves.

If you’re looking for something cute and a little different to do in London this spring, the Miffy pop-up at Japan Centre is definitely worth checking out.

Grab a friend, collect the stamps, try the themed menu, and browse the adorable merchandise while soaking in the cherry blossom-inspired atmosphere.

It’s essentially a mini hanami picnic with Miffy, right in the middle of London and honestly, that’s hard to resist.

Just make sure to visit before 31 May 2026, because once it’s gone, it’s gone.
