Fallow London: Michelin Recommended Dining Near Trafalgar Square
When it comes to dining in London, thereโs always a buzz about new spots worth visiting, but Fallow has been on my list for a while. Michelin-recommended and run by chefs Jack Croft, William Murray, and James Robson, this modern restaurant is making waves with its bold flavours and sustainable approach to cooking. I finally made my way there, and let me just say, it was one of those meals that leaves you already planning your return before youโve even finished dessert.

Background About Fallow
Fallow opened its doors in 2019 and has quickly become a name people talk about in the London food scene, thanks in part to its chef duo Croft and Murray, who also share their passion on YouTube. The restaurant is just a short walk (about six minutes) from Trafalgar Square, making it a convenient stop if youโre sightseeing in central London. The interiors are sleek and modern, and the open kitchen gives you a peek at the action, something my foodie friend loved, as she was hoping to spot the chefs she follows online.
Experience
From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Initially seated by the door, we asked to be moved because of the breeze, and they happily obliged without hesitation. Service was friendly, attentive, and relaxed, exactly what you want for a meal that feels special without being stuffy. Watching the chefs prep in the open kitchen added to the atmosphere, making the experience feel lively yet intimate.
Food
This is where Fallow truly shines. Each dish felt carefully thought out, with layers of flavour and clever touches that made the meal exciting from start to finish.
We kicked off with corn ribs, something I wasnโt sure Iโd enjoy since I donโt usually go for corn. But these were actually one of my highlights. Cut into rib-like strips, fried until crisp, and seasoned with kombu, they had the satisfying crunch of a snack while still being light. Instead of that overly sweet corn flavour I usually avoid, the seasoning gave it a savoury, umami depth that kept me reaching back for more. Honestly, Iโd order them again.

The roasted miso aubergine/eggplant (ยฃ22) was a standout for its balance of smokiness and silkiness. The aubergine had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth quality, while the pickled onion on top added sharpness to cut through the richness. The BBQ aubergine purรฉe tied it all together, giving the dish a layered, almost meaty flavour despite being vegetarian.
Next up, the mushroom parfait (ยฃ18), imagine the creaminess of a classic liver parfait, but swapped with earthy, intensely flavoured mushrooms. The smoked shiitake brought depth, while the grilled bread gave that satisfying crunch to balance the velvety texture. If youโre a mushroom lover, this dish is pure indulgence and perfect for vegetarians since parfait is usually with chicken.

Then came my personal favourite, the flamed mussels (ยฃ22). These were served in a bacon butter sauce, which honestly could have been a dish in its own right. The mussels were plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked, not rubbery, which is always the risk. The sauce had just enough smokiness from the bacon, freshness from the lemon, and richness from the butter to coat each bite. What sealed the deal was the hidden slice of bread at the bottom of the bowl, soaking up every drop of sauce. It felt like discovering a bonus treat once the mussels were gone.
The UK dairy cow fillet (ยฃ44) was everything youโd hope for in a steak. Cooked beautifully rare to medium-rare, it had that clean, rich flavour that only comes from well-sourced beef. No chewiness, just tender, melt-in-your-mouth meat paired with walnut harissa, pickled pepper, and red wine sauce. Each condiment brought a little something extra of heat, acidity, or depth, depending on the bite.
Of course, we couldnโt skip dessert. The peach cobbler soft serve (ยฃ9) was light and refreshing, with roasted peaches adding warmth and toasted almonds giving crunch. It was playful and summery, a nice palate cleanser after the richness of the mains. On the other hand, the caramelised rice mousse (ยฃ14) felt more refined. Creamy and slightly nutty from the caramelised rice, with bursts of freshness from English strawberries, it was one of those desserts where each spoonful tastes a little different depending on what you scoop up. Between the two, Iโd recommend the mousse if you want something memorable, but both were delightful in their own way.

Overall, there wasnโt a single dish that fell short. Each plate had its own personality, but together they made the meal feel like a complete, well-thought-out dishes.
Price
Fallow isnโt cheap, but itโs not outrageous either. We spent around ยฃ40โยฃ50 per person, which feels fair for the quality, creativity, and overall dining experience. Keep in mind they add a 15% service fee, which is standard in London but good to know if youโre visiting from abroad. They also accept both cash and card and are happy to split the bill if needed.
Final Thoughts
Dining at Fallow felt like the perfect balance of creativity, quality, and atmosphere. From the service to the food, everything felt polished but delicious. If youโre in central London, this is a spot worth booking ahead for. I know Iโll be back, those mussels are calling me already.
If youโre wandering near Trafalgar Square and craving a meal that goes beyond the ordinary, Fallow is a great choice. With its modern edge, Michelin nod, and thoughtful dishes, itโs a restaurant that lives up to the hype.
