Murger Han: Affordable & Delicious Chinese Food in London
If youโre on the lookout for a cozy spot in London that serves up comforting, hearty, and flavour-packed Chinese dishes, Murger Han is definitely worth a visit. With multiple branches across the city, I decided to check out their Mayfair location, and let me tell youโI left with a happy heart and an even happier stomach! From friendly service to generous portions, hereโs everything you need to know about my experience.
Experience
Walking into Murger Han, I immediately felt a warm and welcoming vibe. The ordering process is super efficientโyou simply scan a QR code at your table and place your order via your phone. This makes things smooth and easy, especially during busy hours. That said, if you ever need assistance, the staff are incredibly friendly and always happy to help, which really adds to the overall experience.
One thing I really appreciated was that there was no service charge added to the bill, which is always a nice surprise in London.
Food
Now, letโs get to the star of the showโthe food! The menu has a great selection, and I was excited to try out some of their most popular dishes. Hereโs what I ordered and my thoughts on each dish:

- Spring Onion and Chilli Oil Sauce Noodle (ยฃ11.90) + added Beef (ยฃ3.90) โ This is usually my go-to order, and while it was tasty, I have to say the House Special 5 in 1 Noodle stole the show for me.
- House Special 5 In 1 Noodle (ยฃ16.90) โ This was the ultimate comfort bowl! Served in a way bigger portion than the chilli oil sauce noodle, it came with tomato egg sauce, spring onion and chilli oil, stir-fried mixed veggies, and braised pork and beef. You can even pick your meat preference, which is a great touch. If the portion sounds too big, they offer a three-in-one version as well.
- Duck Murger (ยฃ7.50) โ This was like a little pocket of joy! It had all the familiar flavours of Peking duck, but in a soft murger bun. Absolutely delicious.

- Crusty Murger with Spicy Beef (ยฃ7.50) โ One of my favourite bites of the night! The bun was incredibly crunchy, and the spicy beef inside had just the right amount of heat. Definitely a must-try.
- Grilled Chicken Gyoza (ยฃ7.80) โ A safe choice for sure, but still very enjoyable. The gyoza had a nice crisp to them, and the dipping sauce added a good punch of flavour.
- Pork Dumplings in Spicy and Sour Soup (ยฃ10.90) โ If you like a little kick, this is a great option. The soup leaned more towards the vinegary sour side than being overly spicy, which I personally enjoyed.
- Wonton Soup (ยฃ9.90) โ Such a refreshing way to end the meal! After eating the oil splash noodles, this lighter soup was the perfect balance, and the wontons were beautifully soft.
- Spicy Braised Chicken Noodle (ยฃ18.90) โ If you enjoy the spicy beef murger, this dish delivers similar flavours but in a hearty noodle form with chicken. It was a comforting and filling meal.

Price & Value
For central London, Murger Han offers amazing value for money. Most dishes are between ยฃ7 – ยฃ15 per person, and given the generous portions, you definitely wonโt be leaving hungry. The best part? No service charge added, so what you see is what you pay.
Final Thoughts
Murger Han is the kind of place you go to when youโre craving something hearty, flavourful, and filling. The food is well-priced, the portions are generous, and the staff make you feel at home. If youโre new to the menu, I highly recommend trying the Crusty Murger with Spicy Beef, House Special 5 in 1 Noodle, and Wonton Soupโthese were my personal highlights.
Would I come back? 100% yes! It’s so affordable and delicious. Worth the value.
