Ma Eum: London’s Best Spot for Raw Marinated Crab & Korean Cuisine
Ma Eum: London’s Best Spot for Raw Marinated Crab & Korean Cuisine
If you’re a fan of authentic Korean cuisine, Ma Eum is a must-visit spot in London. Located near Big Ben and Westminster, this restaurant offers a truly genuine Korean dining experience with a diverse menu featuring classic dishes like fried chicken, seafood pancake, mandu dumplings, and beef bulgogi bibimbap. But the real star of the show? Their raw marinated crab—one of the only places in London serving this rare delicacy!
Experience
Ma Eum provides an inviting and cozy atmosphere, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. The service is friendly, and they even offer gloves when serving the marinated raw crab to help keep your hands clean while you enjoy the flavourful dish. Keep in mind that the restaurant’s location is a bit of a walk (15 minutes) from the nearest station (St James’s Park), but if you’re exploring Westminster, you can add it as a pit stop for lunch or dinner.
Food

The menu at Ma Eum has a variety of Korean favourites, but we were most excited to try the Yangnyeom Crab (marinated raw crab) (£17.50). The crab was incredibly fresh, packed with meat, and bursting with flavour. The spicy marinade enhanced the natural sweetness of the crab, making every bite a delight. I prefer the spicy marinated crab over the soy version since there is more flavour.
Other dishes we ordered included:
- Ban Ban Chicken (£15) – A perfect balance of crispy and juicy, served with two flavours.
- Seafood Pancake (£10.50) – Crispy on the outside, packed with fresh seafood.
- Galbitang (Beef Broth Soup) (£14.90) – Comforting and rich in flavour.
- Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap (£13.90) – A well-balanced dish with tender beef and fresh vegetables.
- Galbi Mandu (Dumplings) (£7.50) – Crispy and filled with savoury goodness.
- Milkis Drink (£4) – A sweet and creamy Korean soft drink.
- Bong Bong Grape Juice (£4) – A refreshing, fruity beverage.

Price
With a price range of £20 – £30 per person, Ma Eum offers great value for authentic Korean food. The generous portions and high-quality ingredients make it a worthwhile dining experience.
Final Thoughts
Ma Eum is hands down the best place in London for raw marinated crab. The freshness, the flavours, and the overall dining experience make it a standout among Korean restaurants in the city. Whether you’re a seasoned Korean food lover or new to the cuisine, this spot is definitely worth a visit. I’ll be coming back for the marinated crab, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving a true taste of Korea!
If you’re in London and looking for an authentic Korean feast, Ma Eum is the place to go. Make sure to try the marinated raw crab—it’s a rare gem in the city!
