From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be something special. The restaurant’s layout gives you a choice between traditional tables and a bar-top seating arrangement that faces the view directly and of course, we chose the bar top. Sitting there, facing the rolling hills, the tiled rooftops of the medieval town below, and even catching glimpses of the distant Mediterranean Sea shimmering in the sunlight, was nothing short of magical.
The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between refined and relaxed. There’s a calm elegance in the air, stone walls and soft lighting. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you find yourself savouring not just the food, but the moment itself. The staff were warm, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever being intrusive, which made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
Food
Let’s talk about the Pasta Raiola’s Daube Ravioli & Daube Jus, which honestly deserves its own spotlight. Priced at €26, this dish is a culinary revelation. The ravioli were filled with a rich, slow-cooked beef daube—tender and deeply flavourful, like a classic Provençal stew wrapped in silk. The pasta itself was smooth and delicate. It was deeply savoury, slightly earthy, and clung to every bite like it was made for it.
Topping it all off was a beautifully smoked cheese, melted just enough to enhance the flavours without overwhelming them. The smokiness brought a complexity to the dish that lingered on the palate long after the bite was gone. It was served with rustic bread on the side, which turned out to be the perfect tool for scraping every last drop of sauce off the plate. No shame here, we happily did just that.
It’s rare that a single dish stands out so clearly in memory, but this ravioli hit every note: comforting, elevated, and unforgettable. Easily one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had.
