Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed: Fresh Oysters in NSW

Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed is a small local oyster farm that sells fresh oysters and other seafood in a shed located in Mooney Mooney. It is a nice spot to stop over if you are driving up the coast or a nice drive just out of Sydney to check out the local fresh oyster produce.
Fresh Oysters
The raw oysters tasted fresh and delicious. On the menu, you have the option to order prawns too and thatโs exactly what we ordered too. Both were amazing and the view made the experience even better. I wasnโt a fan of the mornay since it wasn’t as creamy as I liked but all the other fresh seafood was the better.
When you arrive, there is a little window section on the left of the shed and this is where you order your seafood. Since the food is usually prepped, it should be ready within 5-10 minutes.
Keep in mind that the weekend can be busy so I recommend going a bit earlier to get a good seat.
The seating area is all outdoors and some of the spaces are covered so you can sit in the shade and enjoy the nice ocean view.
The staff was so friendly. They let us know at the beginning what to do with the food scraps to separate the plastics and shells so they can dispose of them properly.
It’s best to go during high tide or after rainfall so the river will be filled otherwise your view will mainly be of the brown riverbed.
