5 Places You Must Visit In Malta
Looking for the best places to visit in Malta? You’re in the right place! Here are the top five must-visit spots that will make your Malta adventure and holiday unforgettable. Save these for your next visit!
Blue Lagoon, Malta
One of Malta’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and boat trips, with stunning scenic views. Despite its remote location, the Blue Lagoon can get quite busy during peak tourist season, so it’s worth arriving early to claim a good spot unless you book a boat tour where you’ll have a secured spot to relax on a boat.
The Blue Lagoon is located on Comino Island, which is accessible only by boat. Depending on your destination, the ride can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour.
I recommend bringing water, sunscreen, a beach towel, and snacks. There are food options on Comino islands if you get hungry. A must-order are the pina coladas, these are so refreshing and approximately €9 each. You have the option to add alcohol to it or not.
Whether you’re swimming in its crystal waters or simply lounging in the sun, the Blue Lagoon is worth the visit!
Ferry tickets
Tickets can be purchased one-way or round-trip, and discounts are available for children and seniors. It costs about €30 to buy a return ticket from Sliema or the surrounding areas.

Mdina, Malta
A beautifully preserved medieval city with narrow streets, rich history, and incredible views, often called the “Silent City.”Mdina was the capital of Malta from antiquity until the medieval period, roughly until the mid-16th century.
Today, it remains one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, with its baroque architecture, walled fortifications, and cobblestone streets providing a window into the island’s past.
If you’re a fan of Game of Thrones, you’ll be excited to hear that Mdina was used as a filming location for season one. Wonder the streets and explore the narrow winding alleys.

Valletta, Malta
Explore the capital of Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage site with baroque architecture, historic landmarks, and vibrant cultural life. The city is compact so you can easily walk around the stunning architecture, museums, and beautiful gardens (Upper and lower Barracks).
Every day at 12pm and 4pm, the Upper Barracks host canon shows which are known as Saluting Battery where they showcase a cannon firing ceremony and share the history behind the tradition.

Blue Grotto, Malta
Located on the southern coast of Malta, you’ll find a series of sea caverns with deep blue waters and striking rock formations, perfect for boat tours and diving. There are two ways to view the Blue Grotto in Malta.
- To view from above and get an aerial photo of the entire rock formation, visit the Blue Grotto lookout point.
- Experience the Blue Grotto by taking a boat tour. These tours typically last around 25 minutes and provide an up-close view of the caves and their stunning blue waters. It costs €10 for adults and €5 for children under 10 for the experience. I highly recommend it since you also visit other caves around the area. The Blue Grotto Boats Service are open from Monday to Sunday (9:30am – 5pm).
St. Peter’s Pool, Malta
A natural swimming pool with clear waters and unique rock formations, popular for sunbathing and cliff diving. It’s located 30 minutes from Sliema or Valletta and has a price range from €20 – €30 for a ride. I would recommend this otherwise it will take you more than one hour to get to St Peter’s Pool by public transport.
The water is an incredible shade of turquoise, almost transparent in the shallow areas, making it perfect for snorkeling. The sea is calm and inviting, ideal for a refreshing dip on a hot Maltese day. Surrounding the pool, smooth limestone rocks form natural sunbathing platforms. Often, you’ll see many people spread out towels and soak in the Mediterranean sun, enjoying the stunning coastal views.
If you’re looking for a thrilling experience, you must try cliff diving at St Peter’s Pool in Malta. The rock formations offer varying heights for beginners and experienced divers to suit different comfort levels.
Because the area is quite remote, it’s essential to come prepared. There are only one or two shops on-site, so be sure to bring enough water, food, snacks, and sunscreen. If you plan on spending a full day there, consider packing an umbrella or shade tent, as there’s little natural cover from the sun.
Tips visiting for getting around Malta:
You can easily get around by Taxi or using Bolt. You can get 30% off your first two rides when you use code ‘JQK3JR1’. Taxi stands are common in each city you visit but there will be occurrences where there won’t be a taxi stand and that’s when Bolt comes in handy where you can order a ride from your phone.
Malta offers a variety of stunning destinations: Blue Lagoon captivates with its crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Mdina, the “Silent City,” boasts rich history and medieval charm. Valletta, the vibrant capital, showcases baroque architecture and cultural landmarks. Blue Grotto impresses with its deep blue waters and dramatic sea caverns, ideal for boat tours. Lastly, St. Peter’s Pool is a natural swimming spot known for its clear waters and striking rock formations, popular for relaxing and cliff diving.
