Bocca Mar, Nice France: Best Beachfront Restaurant on the Promenade des Anglais
Thereโs something special about eating by the sea, especially when the foodโs good and the vibe is just right. When I was in Nice, I stopped by Bocca Mar, a beachside spot that totally hit the mark. Itโs right on the Promenade des Anglais and honestly, it felt like a little escape from the usual buzz of the city.
Iโm a sucker for dining with amazing views, and this place really hit the spot. The sea breeze, the sound of the waves, and that unbeatable front-row view of the water. Itโs one of those places that makes you slow down and soak it all in.

Experience
We got lucky and scored a table right at the front, literally behind the sunbeds, with an open view of the ocean. You should know the beach here isnโt sandy, itโs full of smooth pebbles, so bring beach shoes if youโre thinking of a swim.

The vibe was relaxing. Itโs the kind of place where you could sit for hours, whether youโre catching up with a friend or just zoning out with a drink and the view. What stood out to me was how smooth and modern the service was. When you’re ready to leave, you donโt have to flag anyone down, you just scan a QR code at the table, and you can pay your bill right from your phone. You can even split it if you’re with friends. It made the whole experience feel really easy and relaxed.
The Food
We kept the order pretty light, but everything we had was on point. We started with three oysters (โฌ9), and they were exactly what you want from fresh oysters, super refreshing. Then came the Fritto Misto (โฌ28), a generous plate of fried calamari, shrimp, and octopus. It was golden, crispy, and paired beautifully with the lemon wedges and a spicy mayo.

One thing I always appreciate is when restaurants serve complimentary bread and butter, itโs such a small gesture, but it makes everything feel just a bit more thoughtful. For drinks, I had a Limonade Maison (โฌ6), which was refreshing andnot overly sweet, just light and citrusy.
Price
For the quality of food and the prime beachfront location, the prices were totally fair. Most dishes sit around the โฌ20โโฌ30 mark, so itโs easy to tailor your order depending on your budget. My total came to โฌ43 for food and drinks, which felt reasonable given the generous portions and setting.
If youโre coming with a group, it might end up a bit more, but itโs not over-the-top expensive, especially when you compare it to other spots along the Promenade that offer less impressive views or food.
Final Thoughts
If youโre in Nice and craving seafood by the water, Bocca Mar is a no-brainer. The location alone makes it worth a visit, but itโs the little details, the easy-going service, the enjoyable dishes, and the laid-back atmosphere that really seal the deal. Iโd definitely recommend booking ahead if you want to secure a spot, but walking in is always an option.
