Best hotel in Strasbourg France: BOMA Easy Living Hotel – Is it worth it?

When I was planning my trip to Strasbourg, I wanted somewhere central, comfortable, and convenient without breaking the bank. After a bit of research, I decided on BOMA Easy Living Hotel, a four-star property located at 7 Rue du 22 Novembre. The name itself BOMA refers to a convivial African-style “enclosure,” and the hotel plays on this theme with quirky touches and a welcoming atmosphere. I stayed here for two nights and three days, and it turned out to be the perfect base for exploring this charming French city.

Location

One of the highlights of this hotel is definitely its location. BOMA is right in the city centre, which makes sightseeing incredibly easy. It’s a 10-minute walk from Strasbourg train station, so if you’re arriving by train, you won’t need a taxi or public transport, just roll your suitcase down a few streets and you’re there.

From the hotel, it’s also just a 10–15 minute stroll to Petite France, the postcard-perfect historic district with half-timbered houses and canals. Along the way, you’ll find shops, bakeries, and cafés, so you’re never short of things to do or eat. I also appreciated that the area felt safe, lively, and practical, with convenience stores just downstairs for anything I needed.

Check-in Process

Check-in at BOMA couldn’t have been smoother. Before arriving, the hotel sent me a link to pre-fill my details online. This small touch saved me so much time at the desk, when I arrived, all I had to do was show my ID, and within minutes I had my key card.

The staff were friendly and professional, and I was delighted when I found out I had been placed on the top floor (Level 6). At check-out, the only thing left was to pay the city tax (€5.72 during my stay), which I found pretty reasonable.

Room

The room was one of the biggest surprises of my stay, it was much larger than I expected for a city hotel. Bright, modern, and thoughtfully designed, it instantly felt welcoming.

• The bed was incredibly comfy, perfect for collapsing into after a long day of exploring.
• There was a flat-screen TV, air conditioning, and a mini fridge to keep drinks cool.
• A kettle with tea and coffee, storage cabinet, and plenty of hangers made it easy to settle in.
• The bathroom had a combined bathtub and shower, along with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer.

My favourite part was the private balcony. With a small table and two chairs, it was the perfect spot to enjoy a quiet coffee in the morning or unwind in the evening while looking out at the city strip. That little surprise made my stay feel extra special.

Facilities and Amenities

BOMA doesn’t overwhelm you with endless facilities, but it gets the essentials right and adds a few thoughtful extras:

• Free WiFi that worked reliably throughout my stay.
• A fitness centre for those who want to stay active (though I skipped this because I spent most of my time exploring Strasbourg on foot).
• Free storage lockers in the basement (floor -1). This is such a fantastic feature, if you arrive early or leave late, you can store your luggage securely with your own code and enjoy the city without carrying bags around.

Service

Service at BOMA was consistently good. Staff were polite, efficient, and always happy to answer questions. Housekeeping visited daily, providing fresh towels, a neatly made bed, and a tidy room. The kind of small detail that makes a short stay feel so much more comfortable.

Dining

I didn’t try the in-house restaurant or bar during my stay, mainly because Strasbourg has so many wonderful cafés, bakeries, and restaurants just outside the door. That said, I’ve heard good things about the breakfast spread, which includes plenty of options for both sweet and savoury tastes. If you prefer the convenience of eating at the hotel before heading out, this could be worth adding to your stay.

Cleanliness

The hotel was spotless from the moment I arrived. My room was sparkling clean, and housekeeping maintained that standard throughout my stay. It really gave me peace of mind knowing everything was fresh and hygienic.

Value for Money

For my stay of two nights and three days, I paid €211.92 (£184) in total and around €105.96 (£94.50) per night. Considering the central location, the spacious room, daily cleaning, free WiFi, and the little extras like lockers and balcony, I thought it was great value for money.

When I compared it to Airbnb prices in the city, they were about the same, but most weren’t in the centre and didn’t come with hotel services like luggage storage. For me, BOMA was absolutely the better choice.

What to Do Around the Area

Staying at BOMA puts you in the middle of Strasbourg’s highlights:

• Petite France: A must-see neighbourhood filled with canals and timber-framed houses. Perfect for strolling, photos, and dining.
• Strasbourg Cathedral: Just 10 minutes away on foot. Its Gothic architecture is jaw-dropping, and don’t miss the astronomical clock inside.
• Local shopping streets: Rue du 22 Novembre itself and nearby streets are full of shops, boutiques, and bakeries.
• Day trips: The train station being so close means you can easily take a day trip to Colmar or other Alsatian villages.

Final Thoughts

Overall, my stay at BOMA Easy Living Hotel was everything I wanted and more. The room was spacious and comfortable, the staff made everything seamless, and the location couldn’t have been better. I especially loved having the balcony, which added a special touch to my Strasbourg experience.

For anyone visiting the city, whether for a short getaway or a longer trip, BOMA strikes the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and value.

Highlights and Tips

• Use the free lockers: They’re perfect if you arrive before check-in or have time to kill after check-out.
• Request a higher-floor room: Not only quieter, but also offers great views of the city.
• Skip the car: With the hotel’s location, you really don’t need one. Walking and public transport are the best ways to explore Strasbourg.
• Book early in peak seasons: Rates can range from £100–£190 per night, so reserving ahead could save you money.
