Chez Moi Nice, France Review: Authentic French Dining & Set Menu Highlights
You know those times when you just wander into a place without much thought… and it ends up being one of the best meals of your trip? That was Chez Moi for me. Tucked away at 2 Rue Paganini in Nice, this cosy spot serves up exactly what I’d been craving in France, proper French comfort food. In a city that leans heavily toward Mediterranean flavours, finding a place so focused on French classics felt like hitting the jackpot.
Experience
I hadn’t made a booking (which can sometimes be a gamble), but walking in just after the doors opened for dinner, I managed to grab a table without a problem. The restaurant’s two daily seatings (11 am–3 pm and 7–11 pm) mean it never feels overcrowded or rushed, which is a blessing when you’re trying to savour every bite.
My waiter was particularly helpful, not just taking my order but guiding me through the menu, offering recommendations, and even pointing out the house specialties.
Food
The menu is consists of two types of set menus: two courses for €28 or three courses for €33. Naturally, I went for the full three, life’s too short to skip dessert when you’re travelling.

Starters: I couldn’t resist the escargot (snails), which arrived sizzling in garlicky, herby butter. The escargot was tender, the sauce rich, and the fresh complimentary bread was perfect for soaking up every last drop. Other entrée choices that evening included roasted peppers, vegetable soup, ham serrano, and sardines rillettes which are a solid lineup that felt authentically French without being pretentious.

Mains: I asked my waiter for his recommendation, and without hesitation he pointed me toward the chicken, apparently their most popular dish. He wasn’t wrong. It was, without exaggeration, the juiciest, most flavourful chicken I’ve ever eaten. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully roasted, and so tender it practically fell apart on my fork. Other main course options included duck confit (+€5), cheese steak (+€5), vegetarian ricotta-spinach cannelloni, and cod fish.

Desserts: I was already full, but when I saw the lemon meringue pie on the menu, there was no turning back. It arrived warm, with a generous slice of tangy lemon filling topped with a soft, cloud-like meringue. Comforting, bright, and indulgent, the perfect end to the meal. Other sweet options included apple pie, chocolate mousse, and ice cream nougat.

Price
- Two-course set menu: €28 (entrée + main or main + dessert)
- Three-course set menu: €33 (entrée + main + dessert)
For the portion sizes, quality of ingredients, and the fact that you’re sitting in the middle of Nice, it’s incredible value. Chez Moi accept both card and cash.
Final Thoughts
If I had just walked past that night, I would’ve missed out on one of my most memorable meals in France. Chez Moi isn’t flashy, and it’s not trying to be, it’s warm, welcoming, and genuinely proud of its food. In a city where traditional French menus can be harder to find, it’s refreshing to see a place leaning fully into those rich, comforting flavours.
From the first bite of buttery escargot to the last spoonful of lemon meringue pie, every dish felt like a reminder of why French cuisine is so beloved worldwide. And the best part? It’s the kind of place you can just stroll into, relax, and enjoy.
So if you’re wandering through Nice and craving proper French food that’s as comforting as it is delicious, head to Chez Moi. Come hungry, take your time, and don’t skip dessert, you’ll thank yourself later.
