Karma Greek Restaurant Oia: Authentic Greek Breakfast in Santorini

Oia is magical in the early morning hours before the crowds gather at the famous viewpoints and winding white alleys. While most visitors wait for the buzz of Ammoudi Bay to begin around noon, we found ourselves exploring Oia in the morning (around 9am) and in need of a quiet breakfast spot. That’s when we stumbled upon Karma Greek Restaurant, a hidden oasis tucked away from the busy paths yet right in the heart of Oia.

Experience

Stepping into Karma felt like entering a serene little sanctuary. The interior is thoughtfully styled, full of character, with rustic Greek touches and cozy corners to settle into. Despite the spotty phone reception in the area, Karma thoughtfully shares their Wi-Fi password right on the menu, a small but appreciated detail. The vibe is relaxed, perfect for easing into the day before the island fully wakes up.

Food

We weren’t looking for a heavy breakfast, so the menu’s light yet flavourful offerings were ideal. I went with “Count Your Blessings” (€10.20), a dish of roasted spiced eggplant with garlic and sesame oil, caramelised onions, and Greek feta, all served with warm toasted corn pitta bread. You can opt to add an egg but we kept it simple. What stood out was how this wasn’t your typical breakfast, it leaned into authentic Greek flavours while still feeling morning-appropriate.

To drink, we ordered a homemade iced lemon tea (€5.20) and a ginger, carrot, apple juice (€8.50). While the tea was refreshing, almost herbal, slightly reminiscent of chamomile, it might not be everyone’s cup of tea if you’re expecting something sweet or tangy. The juice, on the other hand, was a real winner: fresh, vibrant, and energising.

Price

Given the location and ambiance, the pricing at Karma is surprisingly reasonable. Our breakfast came to around €20 since we just ordered one dish to share and two drinks, which is great value for Oia, especially considering the quality and uniqueness of the food. It’s a perfect stop for travellers looking to enjoy a nice meal without the premium price tag of more tourist-heavy spots.

Final Thoughts

Karma ended up being more than just a convenient breakfast stop, it was a highlight of our morning in Oia. With its calm atmosphere, thoughtful food, and early opening hours (8am–12:30am daily), it’s a spot I’d gladly return to whether for a light meal or just a refreshing juice between adventures. If you’re in Oia early and craving something local and relaxing, Karma is the perfect hidden gem.

Oia is full of postcard-worthy moments, but it’s also home to quiet gems like Karma Greek Restaurant that offer a more personal taste of Santorini.
