Hot Stone London: A 5-Course Wagyu & Seafood Tasting Menu for Under £30
Let’s be honest: eating out in Central London usually means picking two out of three: great food, cool vibe, decent price, and getting all three? Rare.
So when I heard about Hot Stone’s five-course Wagyu and seafood tasting menu for just £29.99, I was fully expecting the “too good to be true” catch. But after trying it myself, I can tell you, it’s very real, and very worth it.
Here’s the lowdown on what it’s like, what you get, and whether you should add it to your list.
The Experience
Hot Stone is a small but stylish Japanese restaurant, just a few minutes’ walk from Goodge Street station. It’s warm, modern, and feels a little tucked away.
The staff were friendly and really knew their stuff. Each dish was explained as it arrived, and the pacing of the meal was spot on.
The Food
This menu delivers way more than you’d expect for under £30. It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into both the quality of ingredients and the presentation. Here’s how the five courses break down:
1st Course: Classic Sashimi Box
A light and clean start. Super fresh slices of sashimi, served simply with soy sauce and wasabi.

2nd Course: Sushi Course
You choose between the Crunchy Hot Stone Roll or the Seared Butterfish Roll. There are optional extras like premium fatty tuna sashimi with red jalapeño or the signature Chapel Roll. We added both and loved it!

3rd Course: Seasonal Omakase Box
This was one of the highlights, a surprise selection of 9 to 12 small Japanese bites, mixing warm and cold elements. It felt thoughtful and curated, and everything had a pop of flavour.

4th Course: The Volcanic Rock Wagyu
This is the moment the table goes quiet. You’re given olive-fed Wagyu steak to cook yourself on a 450°C volcanic stone, with a yuzu soy dipping sauce. There’s also an optional upgrade with A5 Japanese Wagyu, scallop, and prawn. It’s theatrical, but it’s also genuinely delicious. The wagyu melts in your mouth.

5th Course: Dessert
A light, homemade taro cake with yuzu sauce to round things out. Just the right amount of sweet after a rich meal.

Price & Value
This five-course tasting menu costs just £29.99.
That price is part of a limited-time summer offer, normally valued at £119. You can also tailor your experience with optional drink pairings (£12.99), oysters and an aperitif (£9.99), or add-ons like the Chapel Roll and A5 Wagyu.
It’s incredibly good value, especially considering the quality of ingredients and how full and satisfied we were by the end. Trust me, your stomach will be full!
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a date night spot, a birthday treat, or just want to try something different without spending a fortune, Hot Stone should be on your list. The set menu is generous, balanced, and fun and the team there makes the whole experience feel easy and welcoming.
It’s one of those meals where you leave feeling like you got way more than what you paid for.
