Lucky’s Souvlakis: The Most Flavourful & Affordable Gyros in Santorini
Santorini is well known for its iconic views, beautiful blue domes, and expensive food. But tucked away in the bustling heart of Fira is a spot that proves great food doesn’t have to come with a hefty price tag.
Lucky’s Souvlakis is a small, fast-paced eatery with a big local reputation. We were on the hunt for the best gyros on the island and with a friend’s recommendation, we made our way there to see if it truly lives up to the praise.
Experience
We had initially planned to grab a quick breakfast gyro at Lucky’s based on Google’s listed opening time of 10AM. However, when we arrived, the staff politely informed us that food prep had only just started, and they recommended we return closer to 11AM for proper service. So here’s a tip: don’t rely entirely on Google’s opening hours, this place runs on its own relaxed island schedule.
Not wanting to miss out, we took the opportunity to wander around Fira, and when we returned, we were the first customers of the day.

Inside, the seating is quite minimal, a bar with stools and a few standing tables along the side wall. But if you can’t find a spot inside, there’s a quiet little courtyard directly across the street, complete with chairs and shaded spots, making it the perfect place to sit and enjoy your gyros while watching the street life go by.
The staff were friendly, creating a laid-back, welcoming vibe. Once the kitchen was in full swing, our food was prepared quickly, with the aromas of grilled meat and warm pita immediately whetting our appetites.
Food
Let’s talk about the star of the show: the gyros. We ordered both the chicken and pork gyros, as well as a side of chips to share. The prices immediately stood out as some of the cheapest we’d seen in Santorini. These gyros were the cheapest we had on the island.

- Chicken Gyros (€4.30) Tender, juicy, and packed with savoury seasoning. The pita was soft and warm, and the filling had a perfect balance of meat, sauce, and fresh toppings.
- Pork Gyros (€4.20) The pork was incredibly flavourful, easily the most delicious gyro meat we tasted during our trip. Well-marinated, slightly crispy on the edges, and bursting with smoky, herby flavour.
- Chips (€4.00) These were probably the weakest part of the meal. While the portion was generous, the chips were on the soggier side, mainly because I prefer my chips to be on the crunchier side. Fortunately, the tomato sauce added a bit of tangy flavour to make them more enjoyable.
Price
One of the most refreshing things about Lucky’s Souvlakis is how affordable it is, especially considering the quality of the food. In a place like Santorini, where many eateries cater to tourists with inflated prices, it was a pleasant surprise to find generous portions and rich flavours at under €5 per gyro.
Final Thoughts
If you’re visiting Santorini and want a meal that delivers on flavour, convenience, and cost, Lucky’s Souvlakis is worth a stop. It may be a small place with limited seating, but the food more than makes up for it. The pork gyro in particular left a lasting impression and we’d go back just for that.
It’s also the perfect option if you’re looking to grab a bite between sightseeing, ferry rides, or just roaming around Fira. Whether you’re backpacking on a budget or simply in the mood for authentic Greek street food, this little spot checks all the boxes.
So next time you’re in Fira and craving something delicious, skip the lines at the tourist traps and head straight to Lucky’s. Just remember: come hungry, and come after 11AM.
